Third, we should understand that each big brother has long reaching octopus tentacles known as bureaucratic and administrative enforcement capabilities.
You must know all licenses and permits your business may need. Your employees may need specialized licenses or permits. If your business has vehicles, you need to know what possible different classes of licenses and whether they need weight permits. The State of Idaho has a publication entitled “Starting a Business in Idaho” The list of businesses that require state licensure encompasses four pages comprising two columns. The publication lists 60 regulatory agencies. If you transact business out of state, you will need to know their laws and regulations. You will also need to know if you must file a foreign registration with each state’s Secretary of State. Yes, you need to consult your hated lawyer in dealing with “Big Brother.”
